Pupils at St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School in Coundon have been developing valuable life skills through a hands-on first aid workshop as part of their PSHE curriculum.
At St Joseph’s, children learn about the importance of staying safe and healthy, both mentally and physically. To support this learning, the school was delighted to welcome Clinivi LTD, who delivered an engaging session focused on essential first aid skills.
During the workshop, pupils learned how to respond calmly and confidently in a range of emergency situations. They explored what to do if someone is unconscious, how to help a person who is choking, and how to assist someone experiencing an allergic reaction, including the use of an autoinjector.
The session provided a valuable opportunity to bring classroom learning to life, helping children understand how first aid knowledge can make a real difference in everyday situations. Through practical guidance and interactive activities, pupils gained a greater understanding of how to respond appropriately when faced with an emergency.
The children thoroughly enjoyed the experience and engaged enthusiastically throughout the workshop. The school is confident that they have developed important skills and knowledge that will help them feel prepared and able to respond should they ever witness an emergency situation.
Experiences like these play an important role in helping pupils build confidence, develop responsibility and learn practical skills that can support the wellbeing and safety of others.
